Banky the puppy was paralyzed after somebody threw her out of a moving car when six weeks old. At least that's what her rescuers believed.

The dog was found with multiple injuries and brought to the Second Chance Rescue NYC Dogs. The pup underwent a hernia operation and other treatment and was brought to a stable condition. But she still wouldn't move her rear legs.

Then one day the staff noticed an incredible change—Banky was trying to stand up. It wasn't much, but enough to hint a recovery.

The rescue organization first posted about Banky on its Facebook page on April 10. Then, on Wednesday, April 18, it posted this video showing Banky's progress.

CCTV footage has emerged of a man narrowly avoiding being hit by an oncoming train in southern Sydney after he jumped onto the tracks to cross the platform. The footage, from August 2017 but released on November 6, shows the man rolling onto the platform at Banksia Station a second away from being crushed. The incident was described as “idiotic” by the NSW Transport Minister Andrew Constance, who told Nine News he would be reviewing penalties for reckless behaviour at train stations. In a media release, Sydney Trains chief executive Howard Collins also lashed out at such risky actions. “This is dangerous behaviour that has to stop,” Collins said. "It’s beyond comprehension what goes through people’s minds when they behave like this. It’s time to put a stop to this foolishness. “These are mindless and thoughtless acts that needlessly put lives at risk. They not only delay our services but can be quite traumatising for our customers and our staff who witness these acts.” Credit: Sydney Trains via ViralVids

Our postcard this week offers a glimpse into the distant past, with prehistoric images in the Kazakh region of Almaty.

Stunning rock carvings or petroglyphs can be found at Tanbaly (sometimes written as Tamgaly), about 170 kilometres northwest of Almaty city.

Key facts about the Kazakh region of Almaty:

The region is in the country’s southeast
It shares a border with Kyrgyzstan & China
It covers an area of 225,000 sq kms
The city of Almaty is the country’s largest

It is a former capital of Kazakhstan

Euronews’ Seamus Kearney reported: “More than 5,000 different petroglyphs were discovered by an archaeological team in 1957.

“And in 2004 the entire site, including five different locations, was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.”

Rinat Sharipov, a Tanbaly petroglyphs researcher, told Postcards: “Generally we can see petroglyphs with images of animals and people with heads that resemble the sun.

“A lot of the carvings date back to the Bronze Age, between the 14th and 12th centuries BC.”

The sacred images – together with altars, cult locations and burial grounds – are testament to the ancient way of life on the steppes of Central Asia.
